Specify a filter-coffee blend and grind.
Describe pure coffee or coffee–chicory requirements together with the intended filter equipment.
Be explicit about composition
State whether you need pure coffee or a coffee–chicory blend. For a blend, include the required proportions if already decided. Describe Arabica and Robusta preferences and the desired beverage rather than assuming every filter coffee uses the same composition.
Match the grind to the method
Identify the filter equipment and usual preparation. Grind requirements should be discussed against that method. Evaluate a sample using your normal recipe and explain any adjustment needed in coffee strength, extraction or drink profile.
Include packing and use
Tell us whether the coffee is for your own service, distribution or private-label retail packs. Add quantity, net pack size and destination. Product availability, sample arrangements and commercial terms are confirmed for your requirement.
Build the composition and brewing brief together
| Decision | Specify or discuss | Avoid assuming |
|---|---|---|
| Composition | Pure coffee or coffee–chicory; required proportions | That all filter coffees use the same ratio |
| Coffee | Arabica, Robusta or blend requirement | That a species name defines the complete cup result |
| Roast | A proposed roast or the beverage result to evaluate | That a roast label settles the service recipe |
| Grind | The intended filter equipment and preparation | That one grind fits all filter methods |
| Packing | Net quantity, intended use and order quantity | That a photographed pack is an available option |
Start with the drink and equipment, then make the formulation explicit. If you are replacing a current product, describe the composition and preparation you use now. Explain which attributes you want to retain and which changes you want to evaluate.
A request for “South Indian filter coffee” needs more detail before products can be compared. Pure coffee and a coffee–chicory blend are different formulation briefs. Where proportions are already decided, state them; where they are not, describe the intended beverage and ask to discuss suitable options.
Turn a brewing trial into a product decision
Keep the sample reference, composition, grind and preparation together in your evaluation record. Use the intended filter equipment and your usual recipe for the trial. If several samples are compared, keep the preparation consistent so comments relate to the coffee rather than an unrecorded change in method.
Record the result in concrete terms that support the next discussion. State what matched your requirement, what needs adjustment and whether another sample is needed. Product acceptance, packing feasibility and commercial agreement are separate decisions.
For distribution or an own-brand project, identify the channel and proposed pack sizes. A service pack for one hospitality operation and a retail pack for resale need different packing discussions even when the coffee formulation is similar. Add artwork status and destination when discussing a branded pack.
